End of War in Iran 6 15 2026

The war with Iran came to close, rather unceremoniously.  In contrast to the bombastic opening salvos of missile attacks, aircraft attacks from ships,  etc.  that played on television screens throughout the world,  the war ended with Donald Trump and the leadership of Iran agreeing to stop fighting,

“The agreement’s immediate scope was focused primarily on ending military attacks and allowing traffic to resume through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s vital shipping lanes. American and Iranian officials acknowledged that they had put off discussions of their most serious disagreements until a later round of talks. The agreement did not appear to fulfill the objectives President Trump promised at the start of the conflict in February: destroying Iran’s military capabilities, abolishing its nuclear ambitions and toppling its theocratic leadership.”

“Mr. Trump said the deal would restart safe passage of oil tankers through the strait as soon as Friday, solving a problem that didn’t exist until the United States and Israel initiated the war. “

“In promoting a deal that halted the fighting, Trump and his top lieutenants said Iran had agreed not to pursue a nuclear weapon.”

“The memorandum of understanding, for example, suspends tolls in the strait for only 60 days, and then promises a regional dialogue about the future. Iran had never charged tolls before the war, so the president is essentially celebrating a return to the prewar status quo.”

Trump came away from the negotiations with no new territory,  prizes or plunder.  He will not be putting the workers in Iran to work laboring to enrich the victorious power, the Americans.  Rather at best Trump  can help Iran remove nuclear waste, which he has indicated would be accepted on the continent.

In this day and age it is not hard for even small nations to build a bomb. Once the nuclear reactor for energy is present, nuclear weapons often follow.  Recycling the spent fuel creates plutonium; that  was how India got the bomb.  Pakistan followed, the nuclear program there began with nuclear reactors, like India.

Pakistan borders Iran, and is also a theocracy of some sort.  Blasphemy can be punished, and the  patriarchy requires women to wear head coverings.  The Pakistanis were part of peace negotiations, indicating that  perhaps they felt Iran should not build a bomb.

Regardless of Iran having a bomb or not,  what we have been shown by Iran is they can defend themselves without a nuclear weapon just fine.  They were able to block the start of Hormuz, where 20% of the world’s petroleum moved through prior to the war and its closure.  Iran was also able to hit targets in countries supporting Israel and America,   The airplanes also started falling  out of the sky by the dozens.  Clearly Iran was able to defend itself without a bomb.

At this point Iran would be stupid to build a bomb.  They just held off an attack from an advanced military power, without airplanes.  Naval power was also removed in the attacks.  With some missiles and drones  the Iranians stood their ground, and forced Trump to back down and accept a return to conditions before the war began.

Nuclear weapons  are a crutch for a failing capitalist system.  Here again the bourgeoisie loses a war, although without the images of the big planes slowly rolling with hundreds of people trying to get onboard, like in Afghanistan.  But did possessing nuclear weapons really  help the  Americans?  It did not put a stop to Iran’s drone warfare, which was able to reach Israel.

In reality the possession of nuclear weapons remained a crutch, a lot of effort to maintain with little or no real material or territorial gains from their possession or use.

Iran should learn from this.  The long range missiles also are easy to shoot down, when they traverse thousands of miles.

We can say the  Republican bourgeoisie ended their war effort today, 6 15 2026.  At best it was a deterrent to a threat that did not yet exist.  No territory was won, no material gains or profits will be made from this military effort. Iran still has nationalized oilwells, the war has not changed that.

It is in this respect Iran won the war, although it does not look like the Americans will have to pay reparations, even though Israel and the Americans caused material damage to property that has to be fixed or replaced.  Instead the war comes to a close, Trump no better off than he was before it started.
